Night Fishing Preparation the Key to Success
Night Fishing Preparation
Night fishing requires quite a bit more preparation than daytime fishing does. Even if you "think" you know the waters pretty well, you need to take extra precautions when fishing at night.
If you are night fishing from a boat, you have even more to think about. Make sure you have enough flotation devices onboard and that they are easily accessible. If someone falls overboard, it is much more difficult to see them at night, so you need to be able to throw a flotation device out to them quickly.
Proper lighting on your boat is also essential. Enough flashlights and batteries should be an obvious commodity, but you would be surprised how many times those batteries that you "thought" were new, die off within minutes of the trip.
You should have a GPS monitor at all times (good compasses are better than nothing if you can't afford a GPS). However, don't go out and buy a GPS right before your first night-fishing voyage. Buy one in advance and learn how to use it first! Trust me, it is no fun trying to read the manual when it's pitch dark and you're lost.
{mosgoogle}
Not only are the tree stumps harder to see at night, so are the shallow waters. It definitely pays to learn the waters well before heading out at night.
Before you venture out into the darkness, make sure you let someone know (back onshore) where you are going or are planning to go. If you aren't back home at a specific time you suggest, at least others will know where to start looking for you.
It's also a good idea to pack your insect repellant. Night fishing not only brings out the best fish, but also the meanest bugs. It's prime feeding time for many insects, and to them, you look pretty tasty on that open water.
Prepare your rods, reels and lures BEFORE you hit the water. There is nothing worse than getting out in the water and realizing you forgot to bring your favorite lure.
A little nap during the afternoon before you head out is also a good idea. Of course, if you are catching a lot, I doubt you will be tempted to doze off.
And remember, safety always comes first. I am yet to see a fish worth getting seriously injured or killed over.
Quick Tip: Part of your preparation should include gearing up with the Evening Secret. It really will take your evening fishing to a new level. (http://www.eveningsecretfishing.com/specialsecret/night-preparation.php)

General Fishing Tips For Deep Ocean Fishing
Deep ocean fishing is an experience. Regular fishermen cannot venture out into the deep blue sea without some tips and tricks from experienced and knowledgeable anglers. Online tips and various books on the subject will give you all the knowledge you may think you desire, but firsthand information and experience straight from the horse's mouth is what is most beneficial.
Fishing has become big business. Demand from hotels and domestic consumers alike have put much strain on fishermen going out into the deep seas. Trawlers and fishing vessels employ fishermen to assist them in making a huge catch which will proved to be economically beneficial. These fishermen need to be trained and educated on the various techniques of fishing to result in profits. There is more adventure in deep sea fishing. Tuna, kingfish, mackerel and red herring are some of the deep sea fish what are sourced on a commercial basis for their market value. Fishermen venturing out into the ocean should be acclimatized to riding the stormy ocean and staying out at sea for a few days at a time.
Ships or trawlers are equipped with cold storage facilities. Captains of the ships know the waters, the tides and currents and where the best catch is to be found. Ensuring safety and taking all such precautions is the need of the hour. No man should be put to risk due to neglect of safety measures.

Though live bait such as threadfin, mackerel herring, hermit crabs, lugworms, pilchards, is the best option, there are other types of bait that will be equally suitable for deep sea fishing. The trick is to offer bait which bigger fish normally feed on. A careful study of natural habitat and preying habits of large fish will give you a fairly clear picture of their food which you can use as bait to sure success. See that there are no scents or perfumes around when you are handling bait. Sunscreens and the like should be kept away and hands should be washed thoroughly after application of sun screens. Fish pick up on these scents immediately and keep far away as possible. One should also wash hands with non scented soaps and clean water before baiting. In fact one should master the technique of handling bait to the least possible extent.
When embarking on a deep sea fishing tour, select a licensed and well know tour operator, or tour company. Find out about their credentials and ask whatever questions possible to satisfy yourself before risking your life on the high seas. See that they have the proper permits and insurances required. References from previous customers can be demanded. Ask for a list of all items that need to be brought out on this trip. Check out the various forms that need to be filled in and guarantees that need to be given. Once satisfied with all these formalities then only should one set sail on the fishing adventure.

Gambar ihsan Mokhtar Ishak (UMT)

SALTWATER FISHING: Light Tackle Fishing for Striped Bass
By Brandon White. In the last article we covered a general overview of light tackle fishing for striped bass. Here in part two we’ll dive in deeper and talk about the rods I use on my striped bass light tackle-fishing adventures. What I use is certainly not the only thing you can use, but I’ll lay it all out for you to use as a guide of a general idea where to start. We can break down the characteristics for the purposes of this article into: Action, Power, Graphite, the types of Guides, Rod Length, Number of Pieces and Type of Rod. Let’s look at each one of these and within each one talk about the attributes
I use for my light tackle striper fishing.
Action
You can think about action in terms of how far down the rod the rod bends when you put pressure on rod tip. Ratings differ among manufacturers, but in general the rating or scale goes: extra fast, fast, moderate, and slow. An extra fast rod will generally only bend in the top fifth of the rod and as you move down the scale more of the rod will bend where at the bottom of the scale you’ll find a slow action rod will start to bend all the way down in the lower third of the rod.
For my light tackle striped bass fishing I use extra fast and fast action rods, with more of my rods falling in the fast action category. In order to produce a cast with a light tackle rod you are using the weight of the lure and the release of the energy from the bend in the end of the rod to project your lure forward. If you are casting a light lure you rely more on the release of the energy in the bend of your rod to project the lure forward to your target which usually means you want a light action rod so it bends easier and further down the rod length to produce enough energy for a good distance cast. Generally the striped bass lures I cast are heavier lures, ranging from 3/8th oz. up to 3oz, and because of this I do not want too much bend in the rod, but enough to generate the energy needed for good length casts. Action ratings vary from manufacturer to manufacturer so make sure to try a rod out by making some casts with it to make sure it feels good for your casting technique coupled with the size/weight lures you will be casting. If you cast with a lot of power a faster action rod will be better for you, if you like to put less power into your casts a slower action rod will be better for you. If you are going to be fishing shallow water and casting lighter lures you will probably want a little slower action rod, if you are going to be generally fishing deeper water with heavier lures you are going to want as faster action rod because the weight of the lure will put more bend in your rod.
Power
This refers to the rods lifting power and is related to the line and lure weights that the rod is rated. The power scale generally goes from heavy, medium heavy, medium, light, to ultra light. Usually following the power designation will come the line weight that the rod is rated (10lb-15lb test etc.); it is important to keep the line weight within the constraints of the rating on the rod. Following that will come the lure weight range and it’s a good general rule to follow those guidelines, although sometimes I find myself cheating up or down a bit, which simply requires an adjustment in my casts to accommodate the different weight. Note that these line weight designations refer to mono fishing line.
For my light tackle striped bass fishing I like heavy to medium heavy rods. While I use a few manufactures, the majority of my striper rods are made by G Loomis; I like their feel and as we’ll touch on below, they are one of the only manufacturers that make a variety of rods in three piece which I need when I travel. Within their power rating system I find myself using rods with the medium heavy rating more often then not. In their rating system these rods are generally rated for 10-17lb test and ¼-1oz lures. Note that the line and lure ratings vary depending on length of the rod along with the power designation and type of graphite, so it’s important to always read the ratings on the rod and not generalize based on ratings alone.
Graphite
Most modern fishing rods, and the ones we will be talking about for light tackle striped bass fishing, are made from graphite and often you will see ratings such as IM6, IM7, IM8. These ratings originated from a company called the Hexcel Corporation that is known in the industry as one of the larger graphite rod blank manufacturers. They use this these designations to describe the make up of the graphite used in a rod. Unfortunately, these ratings are not standardized between manufacturers so you cannot conclude that an IM7 graphite rod made by St. Croix is better then an IM6 graphite rod made by G Loomis. However, what you can conclude is that an IM8 graphite rod is better then an IM7 graphite rod when looking at rods made by one manufacturer. Generally what “better” means is that the actual material used to make the rod is better. Higher ratings mean better material and with that come generally a lighter (as in weight) and a more sensitive rod.
The G Loomis rods I use are comparable to IM7 and IM8. I use a lot of their GLX series which is made from different types of material then IM6,7,8 designation. The Berkley Series One rods that I use for some of my spinning rods are all IM7 graphite along with a few of the custom rods that I have had built. If you are just getting into the light tackle sport do not be hesitant to purchase a cheaper priced IM6 rod, it will generally not be as sensitive, but it will get you in the game and do a fine job of casting. If you like the light tackle game you can easily move up into the more expensive rods and as you gain more experience will be able to tell the difference in sensitivity and construction.
A word of caution, graphite is a great conductor of electricity. If you find yourself fishing in a thunderstorm or see lighting anywhere near you, make sure to store your rods in the lowest available location. If your rods start buzzing or even glowing get to shore immediately, tie up your boat and get off it. If you are onshore, drop your rods and leave them alone until the storm passes. This sounds funny at first, but coming from someone who has experienced buzzing rods in his boat that have zapped me, it’s the real McCoy.
Guides
Guides are important because they what your line has to slid through to get out of your reel and down the length of your rod to the water. Guides have a metal frame that makes up its backbone and is designed to be wrapped onto your rod. The inner circle of the guide is made up of a ceramic. Both the make up of the metal frame and make up of the ceramic vary. Since we are fishing in saltwater you want some sort of non-corssive metal for the frame. The make up of the ceramic run the spectrum from silicon carbide being the best to anconite, hardloy and aluminum oxide. The difference between these different materials is how smooth the ceramic is, the smoother it is the easier your line goes out of your guides and the easier it is to cast.
I generally do not change the guides on my light tackle rods and I would suggest you will not need to either as long as you pick a rod that is built and designed for saltwater. Most manufacturers will put decent quality guides on that will serve you fine. If you decide to have a custom rod made or make one yourself then is time to get some nice silicon carbide guides.
Rod Lengths
I use three rod lengths in my light tackle fishing on the Chesapeake Bay, six foot, six foot six inches and seven foot. If there is one all around rod length that I use the most it is a six-six.
I use six foot rod for close quarter areas such as drifting in and around pilings or other closely located structure.
I use a six foot six inch rod as an all around length and one where if I can only carry a few rods. I will use it when in close quarters, but where I have a little more room to work, when I am jigging straight down or one a steep slope. Also at times I use it in open water long casting situations where I am working back from a shoreline, casting to structure located a medium distance from the boat or when working breaking fish.
I use seven foot rods when working open water where I want or need to make long casts such as to breaking fish. The longer lever gives you more leverage to make long casts and a good long fighting section.
Number of Pieces
Rods come in different number of pieces, one piece, two piece, three and in some cases with light tackle rods four pieces. If you are not going to be traveling on a plane and have room in your car a truck a one-piece rod is your best choice. It allows for a smooth transition from the butt of the rod to the tip with out any interruptions. It’s not that multi piece rods have less strength, however I believe you lose some sensitivity because of the necessity to make the pieces larger to fit into one another. As a basic rule of thumb, get the least amount of pieces you need for the travel you do to your fishing destinations.
Types of Rods
When talking about light tackle rods we are generally talking about two types of rods, spinning rods and baitcasting rods. These two different types of rods require using different types of reels which we cover in our next part in the series when we talk about reels. Once difference we can note here is that in general bait casters have shorter butt sections then spinning rods, but in either case you can choose different length butts to accommodate your casting style and comfort. I prefer having shorter butt lengths on my six and six-six rods and a littler longer butt sections on my seven foot rods to balance the weight of the rod when it is in my had.
Light Tackle Rod Manufacturers
Some manufacturers to look at for light tackle striped bass rods: G Loomis, they make a series of different rods, but one series stands out as great performance for the money is their Green Water series. Personally I use their GLX series which is mostly dictated by the fact that over time this series has offered two and three pieces. St. Croix makes a good line of light tackle rods that are priced well for their performances and craftsmanship; their Avid series is a good line to check out which I have used in the past. Another brand that I use is Berkley and their Series One rods; they are designed for largemouth bass fishing, but I like their sensitivity for what they call their IM7 graphite. The one thing you have to make sure you do is wash off your guides well from the saltwater because they are designed for freshwater. One other brand that I have used and like is Shimano’s Inshore series of rods in their Clarus and Teramar lines. I hope this provides you a framework to work off of when choosing a light tackle rod for your striped bass fishing.
Action
You can think about action in terms of how far down the rod the rod bends when you put pressure on rod tip. Ratings differ among manufacturers, but in general the rating or scale goes: extra fast, fast, moderate, and slow. Memancing Ikan Bawal (Umpan + rangkaian)
Memancing ikan bawal memang mempunyai sensasi tersendiri.

Caring for Your Catch: A Guide to Keeping Fish Fresh While on the Water
CJ Siebler
So you’ve finally done it! After countless hours of preparation and hard work you have finally caught a fish worthy of going home for dinner. But how will you ensure that by the time you have gotten off the water, loaded your kayak, and driven home that your catch will still be eatable?
The moment a fish dies the meat will start to deteriorate. When keeping your fish fresh heat is the enemy. Warm water, the sun, and even the warm air inside your kayak will quickly turn your fish into a mushy mess if it is not cared for properly. So where does one start?
Proper care of your catch should not be limited to the field but also in the preparation stages of your trip. Preparing for a fishing trip should not end with rods, tackle and kayak if you want to eat what you catch. There are several options available to kayak anglers that will keep fish cool and delicious. Game clips and stringers are great for securing your catch however they are not the best way to keep it fresh. Not to mention a fish hanging off your kayak is an easy target for sea lions.
With the explosion of kayak fishing, the industry has made numerous fish-storage options available. Insulated fish bags, burlap sacks, and even coolers are all great options to keep your catch cold. When using any of these products be sure that you have some form of ice that will immediately lower the meats temperature. Remember the larger the piece of ice, the longer it will take to melt. For this reason frozen water bottles are a popular choice. Also with the water bottle you will have an emergency water supply. If you choose to go with the Burlap sack remember to soak it with water when it begins to dry out. The evaporation of the water from the sack will naturally cause cooling of its contents.
Once you have decided on a storage method, your catch will keep much better until you can get it cleaned and cooked. However there are a few things you can do to greatly improve the taste and quality.
- The Gaff Shot- This is where it all starts. Try your best to never gaff a fish in the meat. Always go for a headshot. I know that it can be exciting when a big yellowtail comes to gaff but take your time and get that perfect shot. Not only will this prevent waste but also it will help to keep the fish from thrashing around and bruising the meat. Of course there will be exceptions to the Head Shot rule, you never want to get a headshot on certain fish such as halibut or Dorado as the gaff will often bounce right off of their hard scull. When gaffing these fish you will want to aim for a different area. On halibut a gut shot is the way to go. Not only will the gaff sink in but a properly placed shot will also paralyze the fish for a short period of time, allowing you to easily bleed and secure your catch. For Dorado one will want to get a gaff shot just behind the head.
- Stunning fish- Just like the gaff shot, a quick kill will improve meat quality by keeping the fish from thrashing around and bruising the meat. Also a fish that dies quickly does not emit toxins into the meat like a slow death does. To stun the fish, club the fish with Billy Club on the soft spot right above the eyes.
- Bleeding Fish- Bleeding fish will not only greatly improve the flavor of fish but it will also help to keep the meat from breaking down as quickly. In addition, It is essential for sashimi grade fish. Although there are various ways to bleed fish, my choice is to make one cut across the collar/throat, severing the blood vessel between the heart and the gills. After making your cut allow the fish to bleed for several minutes then wash the cut area to avoid clotting which will cause the fish to not bleed completely. When the fish has finish bleeding out immediately place into your fish bag or cooler making sure that the backbone is bent as little as possible.
Following these simple steps will ensure quality fish for eating. When done correctly you will notice a tremendous difference in taste and texture of the fillets. You will also notice that fish considered by many as “trash” are actually incredibly delicious when cared for properly. Species such as Skipjack, Bonito, and Barracuda are awesome if you take the time to ensure quality. In all honestly I believe that when properly cared for, Bonito is far better tasting than Albacore. Try it for yourself you may be pleasantly surprised.

Some Great Spots For Fly Fishing
Of course there are hundreds of spots that you can go to fly fish if you are a traveler, but I will only be going over a handful of my favorite spots and they are all located in the United States. One that may catch you by surprise is Sitka, Alaska. Sitka is located in the Southeastern part of Alaska and there are many rivers and streams that are not fished that much due to the number of them and fishermen that go there. What you can expect in just about all of them are Steelhead. You can also expect to get some Salmon and Trout. Best time to go in my opinion is the end of Spring or the beginning of Summer.
If you like to fish for rainbow trout, which are absolutely delicious, then you may want to fish the Colorado river that is located in Arizona. The best thing about fly fishing here is that you can do it year round as the temperature of the water stays just right for the Rainbow Trout, meaning they really have no reason to migrate north or south or to warmer or cooler waters unlike many other parts of the United States. The river is about 15 miles long and stretches from the upper end of the Grand Canyon down to Lake Powell. They are real big on fly fishing around there and there is loads of information available, and also many fishing charters that will be glad to make sure you catch fish, if the price is right of course.
The Driftless Area in Wisconsin also offers many fishing spots for the fly fisherman as there are almost a hundred streams that are full of game. The Driftless Area is mainly in Wisconsin but it also is a part of Minnesota too. If you want to see some beautiful scenery and try for some brown trout, then this would be an ideal place for you. Another huge place on fly fishing, you will have no problem finding guides or more information if you choose to go here.
If you want to get a fly fishing experience of a life time then get on a plane and head to Kauai, Hawaii. They have ponds there that are loaded with small mouth and large mouth bass. But the most challenging type of fly fishing that I have done to date is going after bonefish. Bone fish are extremely fast and you may have to cast hundreds of times before you get them to bite, and there are plenty of them in the saltwaters of Kauai, Hawaii. I promise you if you hook up with a bonefish you will know what I mean and know why so many people fly into the middle of the Pacific Ocean to try and catch them. If you are into bonefishing and do not want to go that far you may want to try some of the islands in the Bahamas.
There are literally thousands of fly fishing hot spots that are around the world that offer you great fishing. These are just a few that I have visited personally. Sometimes when I get bored I get on the internet and just start browsing around and try to plan my next vacation, the hardest part is deciding where to go, and for me it is always some place that is different and I haven’t been too before.

Tricks To Remember While Going Deep Sea Fishing
Once you have mastered the techniques involved in river and stream fishing you are ready to venture out into the deep blue sea. Here one will find a treasure house of fish and they are all there for the taking. Get your appropriate fishing gear and garb, a good boat and guide, a faithfully friend or companion and you are ready to take on the seven seas. Find out all details about getting a proper and valid license to go out to sea and are well versed with the fishing limits demarcated for licensed fishing. Local wildlife authorities will guide you on ways and means of getting licenses and instruct you on limits and confines.
Study of local weather forecasts and tide schedules will ensure that you do not get stuck out at sea or get caught in a heavy downpour. During summer or even on an overcast day one should not forget to apply some sort of sun protection. Besides a good anglers hat, sun screen is definitely recommended as salty air and bright sunshine beating down on your skin will certainly have some harmful effects in the long run. Drinking of plenty of water is also recommended so that you do not get dehydrated due to maximum amount of evaporation that will take place from your body.
Respect of sea and its temperaments and moods is very important. Do not take chances or risks while fishing in the sea. Strong and unpredictable currents, vagaries of nature, dangers of deep seas and condition and sturdiness of the boat should be seen to and studied in great details. Ensure that you do not get sea sick. The worst thing for a deep sea angler is fighting sea sickness. It will spoil your whole venture and a lot of money and enthusiasm will be lost.

Catch bait and big fish in one go. If you are catching small fish to be used as bait, chances are that you will catch some large fish as well as they will come in search of smaller fish for food. So, you can hit two birds with one stone, i.e., catch two fish with single bait. Fishing on the high seas have always been exciting and an adventure in itself. Respect for the sea, its various rules and regulations and mainly for the fish itself should be your main priority. So whether it is trout, salmon, bass, crab, crayfish, lobster, eel or any other fish you are after, the tactics and strategies remain the same and must be adhered to while out fishing on the sea to ensure utmost safety and wellbeing.

UMPAN MANCING IKAN LELE
UMPAN MANCING IKAN LELE

Tips to find a Fishing Guide

1. Open Communication matters. It is important that you provide the guide all the information they need so that they will figure out what kind of fishing trip is best for you. Be sure to be honest in telling the guide how much experience you have regarding fishing. This will help them to know what advice and tips to give you so that you can make the most out of your time.
2. Seek the help of friends and relatives. Ask your friends and relatives who have fished and if not they may be able to provide you with some referrals. It is better to ask them about their experiences, the things that you need to do and things that you have to look for in a guide. They may be also to provide you referrals of the guides they have tried and found effective for them. This will be a chance for you to ask if the guide they are referring you to has enough knowledge or is accommodating to clients.
3. Browse the Internet. The Internet can provide a lot of websites where you can find the best guides in a certain location. You can also post messages and questions regarding the website and they may be able to find the information you need.
4. Determine if your prospective guide is licensed. It is better that you know that the person you are working with is working according to the law. A licensed guide is also sure to be relied on especially with the matters of integrity and trust. Ask the guide of their name and phone numbers including the state-licensing bureau. A guide who is not willing to provide you the information you are asking for is not worth your time.
5. Find out exactly what you are paying for and how long the amount would cover. You need to know this information for you to be able to manage your schedule before the fishing trip and plan the things that you need to bring which are not covered by the payment you made. Some include the price for lodging in the package while other guides may charge extra for that. Asking the coverage of your fees will also help you assess if the services you will get is worth the money you will be spending.
6. Get to know the guide. Evaluate if the guide that you will be working with can get along with you. If not, you will just be wasting your time and money. Fishing is a time to learn and enjoy but if the two of you will not get along well, the whole trip might just be ruined. Get to know the guide first before you set foot on the boat. Exert a little effort to call the guide and make a small chat to break the ice and make the two of you comfortable on the day of the actual fishing.
7. Also make time to find out how long the prospective guide has been on his job. This will make it easier for you to assess the level of experience the guide has earned in that field. It is better that you choose a guide that has been in fishing for many years. They are the ones who usually have the skills and teaching techniques that will be of great help to you.

Organic food

Organic foods are foods that are produced using methods of organic farming– that do not involve modern synthetic inputs such as synthetic pesticides and chemical fertilizers. Organic foods are also not processed using irradiation, industrial solvents, or chemical food additives.[1] The organic farming movement arose in the 1940s in response to the industrialization of agriculture known as the Green Revolution.[2] Organic food production is a heavily regulated industry, distinct from private gardening. Currently, the European Union, the United States, Canada, Japan and many other countries require producers to obtain special certification in order to market food as organic within their borders. In the context of these regulations, organic food is food produced in a way that complies with organic standards set by national governments and international organizations.
Evidence on substantial differences between organic food and conventional food is insufficient to make claims that organic food is safer or healthier than conventional food.[3][4][5][6][7][8][9] With respect to taste, the evidence is also insufficient to make scientific claims that organic food tastes better.[5][3]
Meaning and origin of the term
For more details on on the production of organic food, see Organic farming.

For the vast majority of its history, agriculture can be described as having been organic; only during the 20th century was a large supply of new chemicals introduced to the food supply.[10] The organic farming movement arose in the 1940s in response to the industrialization of agriculture known as the Green Revolution.[2]
In 1939, Lord Northbourne coined the term organic farming in his book Look to the Land (1940), out of his conception of "the farm as organism," to describe a holistic, ecologically balanced approach to farming—in contrast to what he called chemical farming, which relied on "imported fertility" and "cannot be self-sufficient nor an organic whole."[11] This is different from the scientific use of the term "organic," to refer to a class of molecules that contain carbon, especially those involved in the chemistry of life. This class of molecules includes everything likely to be considered edible, and include most pesticides and toxins too, therefore the term "organic" and, especially, the term "inorganic" (sometimes wrongly used as a contrast by the popular press) are both technically inaccurate and completely inappropriate when applied to farming, the production of food, and to foodstuffs themselves.
Early consumers interested in organic food would look for non-chemically treated, non-use of unapproved pesticides, fresh or minimally processed food. They mostly had to buy directly from growers: "Know your farmer, know your food" was the motto.[citation needed] Personal definitions of what constituted "organic" were developed through firsthand experience: by talking to farmers, seeing farm conditions, and farming activities. Small farms grew vegetables (and raised livestock) using organic farming practices, with or without certification, and the individual consumer monitored.[citation needed]

Small specialty health food stores and co-operatives were instrumental to bringing organic food to a wider audience.[citation needed] As demand for organic foods continued to increase, high volume sales through mass outlets such as supermarkets rapidly replaced the direct farmer connection.[citation needed] Today there is no limit to organic farm sizes and many large corporate farms currently have an organic division. However, for supermarket consumers, food production is not easily observable, and product labeling, like "certified organic", is relied on. Government regulations and third-party inspectors are looked to for assurance.[citation needed]
Legal definition

Main article: Organic certification
See also: List of countries with organic agriculture regulation
Organic food production is a heavily regulated industry, distinct from private gardening. Currently, the European Union, the United States, Canada, Japan and many other countries require producers to obtain special certification in order to market food as organic within their borders. In the context of these regulations, organic food is food produced in a way that complies with organic standards set by national governments and international organizations.
In the United States, organic production is a system that is managed in accordance with the Organic Foods Production Act (OFPA) of 1990 and regulations in Title 7, Part 205 of the Code of Federal Regulations to respond to site-specific conditions by integrating cultural, biological, and mechanical practices that foster cycling of resources, promote ecological balance, and conserve biodiversity.[12] If livestock are involved, the livestock must be reared with regular access to pasture and without the routine use of antibiotics or growth hormones.[13]
Processed organic food usually contains only organic ingredients. If non-organic ingredients are present, at least a certain percentage of the food's total plant and animal ingredients must be organic (95% in the United States,[14] Canada, and Australia). Foods claiming to be organic must be free of artificial food additives, and are often processed with fewer artificial methods, materials and conditions, such as chemical ripening, food irradiation, and genetically modified ingredients. Pesticides are allowed as long as they are not synthetic.[15] However, under US federal organic standards, if pests and weeds are not controllable through management practices, nor via organic pesticides and herbicides, "a substance included on the National List of synthetic substances allowed for use in organic crop production may be applied to prevent, suppress, or control pests, weeds, or diseases."[16] Several groups have called for organic standards to prohibit nanotechnology on the basis of the precautionary principle[17] in light of unknown risks of nanotechnology.[18]:5–6 The use of nanotechnology-based products in the production of organic food is prohibited in some jurisdictions (Canada, the UK, and Australia) and is unregulated in others.[19][20]:2, section 1.4.1(l)
To be certified organic, products must be grown and manufactured in a manner that adheres to standards set by the country they are sold in:
- Australia: NASAA Organic Standard[21]
- Canada:[22]
- European Union: EU-Eco-regulation
- Sweden: KRAV[23]
- United Kingdom: DEFRA[24]
- Norway: Debio Organic certification[25]
- India: NPOP, (National Program for Organic Production)[26]
- Japan: JAS Standards[27]
- United States: National Organic Program (NOP) Standards
Public perception
There is widespread public belief that organic food is safer, more nutritious, and tastes better than conventional food; these beliefs have fueled increased demand for organic food despite higher prices.[4][6][7][30]Psychological effects such as the “halo” effect which are related to the choice and consumption of organic food and which may be akin to religious experiences in some people are in addition important motivating factors in the purchase of organic food.[3] An example of the halo effect was demonstrated by Schuldt and Schwarz.[31] Their results showed that university students inferred that organic cookies were lower in calories and could be eaten more often than conventional cookies. This effect was observed even when the nutrition label conveyed an identical calorie content. The effect was more pronounced among participants who were strong supporters of organic production and had strong feelings about environmental issues. The perception that organic food is low-calorie food or health food appears to be common.[3][31]
Taste
A 2009 literature review concluded that in the scientific literature examined, “there is broad agreement ...(that) most studies that have compared the taste and organoleptic quality of organic and conventional foods report no consistent or significant differences between organic and conventional produce. Therefore, claiming that all organic food tastes different from all conventional food would not be correct. However, among the well-designed studies with respect to fruits and vegetables that have found differences, the vast majority favour organic produce.”[5][30] There is evidence that some organic fruit is drier than conventionally grown fruit; a slightly drier fruit may also have a more intense flavor due to the higher concentration of flavoring substances.[3]A 2000 FAO report noted an unpublished study in which Golden Delicious apples "were found to be firmer and received higher taste scores than conventionally grown apples".[32]
Some foods, such as bananas, are picked when unripe, then artificially induced to ripen using a chemical (such as propylene or ethylene) while in transit, possibly producing a different taste.[33] The issue of ethylene use in organic food production is contentious; opponents claiming that its use only benefits large companies, and opens the door to weaker organic standards.[34]
Differences in chemical composition of organically and conventionally grown food
With respect to chemical differences in the composition of organically grown food compared with conventionally grown food, studies have examined differences in nutrients, antinutrients, and pesticide residues. These studies generally suffer from confounding variables, and are difficult to generalize due to differences in the tests that were done, and in the methods of testing, and also because the vagaries of agriculture affect the chemical composition of food; these variables include variations in weather (season to season as well as place to place); crop treatments (fertilizer, pesticide, etc.); soil composition; the cultivar used, and in the case of meat and dairy products, the parallel variables in animal production.[6] Treatment of the foodstuffs after initial gathering (whether milk is pasteurized or raw), the length of time between harvest and analysis, as well as conditions of transport and storage, also affect the chemical composition of a given item of food.[6] Additionally, there is evidence that organic produce is drier than conventionally grown produce; a higher content in any chemical category may be explained higher concentration rather than in absolute amounts.[3]Nutrients
A 2012 survey of the scientific literature did not find significant differences in the vitamin content of organic and conventional plant or animal products, and found that results varied from study to study.[6] Produce studies reported on ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) (31 studies), beta-carotene (a precursor for Vitamin A) (12 studies), and alpha-tocopherol (a form of Vitamin E) (5 studies) content; milk studies reported on beta-carotene (4 studies) and alpha-tocopherol levels (4 studies). Few studies examined vitamin content in meats, but these found no difference in beta-carotene in beef, alpha-tocopherol in pork or beef, or vitamin A (retinol) in beef. The authors analyzed 11 other nutrients reported in studies of produce. Only 2 nutrients were significantly higher in organic than conventional produce: phosphorus (median difference, 0.15 mg/kg [minimum difference, −18 mg/kg; maximum difference, 530 mg/kg]) and total phenols (median difference, 31.6 mg/kg [minimum difference, −1700 mg/kg; maximum difference, 10,480 mg/kg]). The result for phosphorus was statistically homogenous, but removal of 1 study reduced the summary effect size and rendered the effect size statistically insignificant. The finding for total phenols was heterogeneous statistically and became statistically insignificant when two studies not reporting sample size were removed. Too few studies of animal products reported on other nutrients for effect sizes to be calculated. The few studies of milk that the authors found were all (but for one) of raw milk, and suggest that raw organic milk may contain significantly more beneficial omega-3 fatty acids (median difference, 0.5 g/100 g [minimum difference, 0.23 g/100 g; maximum difference, 4.5 g/100 g]) and vaccenic acid than raw conventional milk (median difference, 0.26 g/100 g [minimum difference, 0.11 g/100 g; maximum difference, 3.1 g/100 g]).Similarly, organic chicken contained higher levels of omega-3 fatty acids than conventional chicken (median difference, 1.99 g/100 g [minimum difference, 0.94 g/100 g; maximum difference, 17.9 g/100 g]). The authors found no difference in the protein or fat content of organic and conventional raw milk. Minor differences in ascorbic acid, protein concentration and several micronutrients have been identified between organic and conventional foods.[35][36]
A 2003 study found that the total phenolic content was significantly higher in organically grown marionberries, strawberries, and corn compared to their conventionally grown counterparts.[37]
Anti-nutrients
The amount of nitrogen content in certain vegetables, especially green leafy vegetables and tubers, has been found to be lower when grown organically as compared to conventionally.[4] When evaluating environmental toxins such as heavy metals, the USDA has noted that organically raised chicken may have lower arsenic levels,[38] while literature reviews found no significant evidence that levels of arsenic, cadmium or other heavy metals differed significantly between organic and conventional food products.[4][3]Pesticide residues
The 2012 meta-analysis determined that detectable pesticide residues were found in 7% of organic produce samples and 38% of conventional produce samples. Organic produce had 30% lower risk for contamination with any detectable pesticide residue than conventional produce. This result was statistically heterogeneous, potentially because of the variable level of detection used among these studies. Only three studies reported the prevalence of contamination exceeding maximum allowed limits; all were from the European Union.[6] The American Cancer Society has stated that no evidence exist that pesticide residue will lead to any form of cancer. [39]Bacterial contamination
The 2012 meta-analysis determined that prevalence of E. coli contamination was not statistically significant (7% in organic produce and 6% in conventional produce). Four of the five studies found higher risk for contamination among organic produce. When the authors removed the 1 study (of lettuce) that found higher contamination among conventional produce, organic produce had a 5% greater risk for contamination than conventional alternatives. While bacterial contamination is common among both organic and conventional animal products, differences in the prevalence of bacterial contamination between organic and conventional animal products were statistically insignificant.[6]Health and safety
Health effects of organic food diet
With respect to scientific knowledge of health benefits from a diet of organic food, several factors limit our ability to say that there is any health benefit, or detriment, from such a diet. The 2012 meta-analysis noted that "there have been no long-term studies of health outcomes of populations consuming predominantly organic versus conventionally produced food controlling for socioeconomic factors; such studies would be expensive to conduct."[6] The 2009 meta-analysis noted that "Most of the included articles did not study direct human health outcomes. In ten of the included studies (83%), a primary outcome was the change in antioxidant activity. Antioxidant status and activity are useful biomarkers but do not directly equate to a health outcome. Of the remaining two articles, one recorded proxy-reported measures of atopic manifestations as its primary health outcome, whereas the other article examined the fatty acid composition of breast milk and implied possible health benefits for infants from the consumption of different amounts of conjugated linoleic acids from breast milk."[7] In addition, as discussed above, difficulties in accurately and meaningfully measuring chemical differences between organic and conventional food make it difficult to extrapolate health recommendations based solely on chemical analysis. As of 2012, the scientific consensus is that while "consumers may choose to buy organic fruit, vegetables and meat because they believe them to be more nutritious than other food.... the balance of current scientific evidence does not support this view."[40] A 12-month systematic review commissioned by the FSA in 2009 and conducted at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine based on 50 years' worth of collected evidence concluded that "there is no good evidence that consumption of organic food is beneficial to health in relation to nutrient content."[41] There is no support in the scientific literature that the lower levels of nitrogen in certain organic vegetables translates to improved health risk.[4]

MEMANCING BARONANG

SEKILAS MENGENAI BARONANG

1. Dermaga, biasanya garonang senang bersembunyi di dekat tiang tiang dermaga
2. Rumpon kerang Hijau , baronang sangat menyukai kerang
3. Sekitar karang atau batrean atau pemecah ombak ( terutama yg banyak lumut)
4. Kapal karam
UMPAN

Salam strike....

Beberapa Contoh Jenis Ikan Yang Hidup Di Sungai

All AE Kayaks come with an instruction manual on proper inflation and deflation techniques. You can register for warranty by mailing the form to AE or registering via online website.
Exercise safety by wearing life vests at all times. Check the weather, tide tables and inform or go with a buddy for day trips out at sea.
AE Kayaks are US patented designed kayaks made of durable, high quality materials. Take proper care and maintenance to ensure the look and feel of your kayak. Use water to wash off salt water and allow time to dry and store properly after each use.
Inflate and deflate air properly. About 50% of the air should be pumped via the first main chamber valve and the remaining 50% in the second main chamber. Never over inflate or force more air into the kayak. Deflate air by using the pump. Do not force air out by sitting on the kayak or folding the air out.
With proper care and maintenance, your kayak can last a good many years.
